Muuto Pop-Up Store - New Perspectives on Scandinavian Design

Denmark's leading furniture brand, Muuto, renowned for its embodiment of New Nordic design, is set to launch a 10-day pop-up store. Founded in 2006 in Copenhagen by Peter Bonnén and Kristian Byrge, Muuto draws its name from the Finnish word "muutos," meaning "new perspective." Through innovative design and a commitment to sustainability, Muuto has garnered international acclaim by reimagining Scandinavian design.

At the Muuto pop-up store, a wide array of items ranging from furniture to lighting, rugs, and accessories will be on display. Exclusive collections available only here will captivate visitors with their distinctiveness. Furthermore, the store will offer an exclusive preview of this year's freshly unveiled collection, showcased at Milan Design Week. Guests will have the opportunity to revel in the synergy between the designers' ingenuity and the latest technological advancements.

As a pioneering force in the realm of New Nordic design, Muuto seamlessly integrates the aesthetics and functionality intrinsic to Scandinavian design with novel concepts and technology. Visitors can expect to sense the brand's innovative spirit and impeccable craftsmanship emanating from the exhibited pieces.

Following this pop-up venture, Muuto's store is scheduled to grace Tokyo's Aoyama district in Spring 2024. This establishment will mark Muuto's fifth store, following its presence in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris, and, notably, its premier venture in Japan. This space where Nordic sensibilities converge with cutting-edge design will undoubtedly serve as a haven for the fusion of Muuto's identity and Japan's aesthetic sensibilities.

Don't miss this exceptional opportunity to immerse yourself in Muuto's world. Join us at Designart Tokyo 2023 to experience Scandinavian designs by Muuto that evoke new perspectives.

Cecilie Manz

Cecilie Manz, born in Copenhagen to artist parents, has cultivated a profound artistic lineage. Her early years were marked by the influence of her mother, the ceramic artist Bodil Manz, and a period spent in Arita, Saga Prefecture, fostering a creative environment that nurtured her growth. After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later pursuing further education at the University of Arts and Design in Helsinki, Manz established her own design studio. Her portfolio unveils a collection of minimalistic designs imbued with poetic sensibility. In 2014, Manz achieved a remarkable milestone as she became the first designer to receive the esteemed "Crown Prince Couple’s Culture Prize," an accolade celebrating Denmark's most significant cultural contributors. Within Muuto, her artistic prowess shines through works like the Workshop Chair & Table and the Compile Shelving System, among other furniture designs.
