The experimental textile work made with extracted dye bath from inedible parts of vegetable waste from everyday life. This project started from questioning the known natural dyeing process which consumes amount of resources.
Shioka Okamoto is a textile designer. She completed an MA in Textile design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2016, received her Graduate Diploma for Interior design at Chelsea College of Arts in 2014 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tama Art University in Tokyo. Her main research topic is textile design in spatial context with sustainability in mind, and working on printing and dyeing textiles. She started taking part in exhibitions in the 2000s and has been showing works internationally since then. Some of her works have selected for international design awards such as iF Design Award and Red Dot Award Design Concept. She worked as assistant professor (full-time) at Okayama Prefectural University from 2017 to 2022 and lecturer (part-time) at Tama Art University from 2022 to teach textile design.
