primitive and adorable
Although "yabottai" in Japanese often implies a lack of refinement, I’m embracing it in a positive light, appreciating its unique charm.
In my exhibition, I’ve translated this concept into furniture such as chairs and cabinets that captures the essence of “yabootai.” Vases inspired by “Hanafuda” evoke nostalgic Japanese memories and can be enjoyed as wall art.
Also featured will be the table lamp (posinglamp) and vase (Lapel) from the “MOBJE” brand, which I have designed and directed for the past five years. The lamp enhances the space with adjustable light, while the vase adapts its shape to complement flowers.
"I handle everything from the brand's inception to product design, visuals, and total production, including comprehensive branding. In each project, I focus not only on the characteristics and techniques of the materials but also on the brand and the people involved, aiming to create value that goes beyond just designing objects and spaces.
I operate in both Tokyo and Hida. At my Hida workshop, I work jointly with artisans to explore wood from various perspectives, developing unique furniture and store designs. Through reinterpreting the classics and pursuing new endeavors, I strive for expressions that transcend the boundaries of design
