Is that structure essential?

As an in-house designer, I find fulfillment in creating mass-produced products that enhance lives, yet I often feel discomfort with the distortions caused by mass production. To address this, I’ve created a product to explore whether these distortions are essential and to discover what truly matters.

The product I’m showcasing is a prototype sofa. Designing sofas with disassembly and recyclability in mind is challenging due to manufacturing constraints. My design challenges the norm by incorporating disassembly-friendly structures and recyclable materials.
