INFORMATION
Based on three core values of Karimoku Furniture Wood, Human, Design, you can experience Karimoku Furniture in the future through the 4 collections KNS, Karimoku Case Study, Ishinomaki Laboratory MAS.
The origins of Karimoku date back to 1940, when Shohei Kato established a small woodworking shop in Aichi. The company produced various wooden parts in the ensuing decades, developing a range of techniques and technology before launching its own line of wooden furniture in the 1960s. Building upon the concept of manufacturing high-tech and high-touch products, the company established bases in timber production areas and developed into one of Japan’s leading manufacturers of wooden furniture.
A hybrid space that was renovated from a 37-year-old building designed by architect Keiji Ashizawa and opened in February 2021. Karimoku produced not only furniture in the site but also a part of wooden fixtures and fittings in the building. You can experience the space created with wood that Karimoku furniture envisions throughout the building. Small update such as layout is planned along with DESIGNART in October.
