GYRE

area: 明治神宮前/MEIJIJINGUMAE

information

The building designed by Dutch architect group MVRDV (Winny Maas 、Jacob van Rijs 、Nathalie des Vries) consists of multiple floors situated in a spiral like a whirlpool. The name GYRE comes from gyro meaning rotation. The whirlpool is the magnet that pulls things together, and a movement that gathers new energy and people. From this whirlpool we dispatch our idea of shopping and social significant activities through “SHOP & THINK”, aiming to be Omotesando, or even broader Tokyo’s cultural generator.

    FACILITY

“SHOP & THINK” is a concept of “thinking about the world while living”. This commercial building is a place to seek for a new style of consuming that brings us fundamental pleasure, for people willing to “pay more for good service and objects”. To be aware of pleasures that can be found in everyday life, from fashion, design and food, and to enjoy shopping while being aware of the society surrounding these elements. This is a commercial building with a new style of consuming, for those who wish their shopping can give a positive impact to the society.
