mitate : AI design project

"mitate" means to perceive and express an object as if it were something else.
In this project, images of all kinds of objects were input to an image-generator AI trained with images of bowls, the AI then "mitate" the objects and generate images of non-existent bowls. The designers selected the best designs from the generated images and created 3D data of 24 bowls.
In this exhibition, these data were output by a full-color 3D printer to materialize bowls. By actually looking and touching the bowls, you can experience the possibilities of product design using cutting-edge technologies such as AI and 3D printing.
We also offer hints for next-generation businesses by familiarizing you with the endless possibilities of 3D printing technology.
