INFORMATION
An art exhibition by Asao Tokolo (artist), Ben Nagaoka (architect/designer), and Kenichi Shikata (artist). The works are used by “DUO”, the new aluminum picture frame manufactured by Aluna. The DUO is equipped with Arakawa grip, hardware that can be flexible on wire cable to hang vertically.
Asao TOKOLO (1969-) learned architecture since childhood, including an apprenticeship under Shin EGASHIRA. His decorative patterns based on the concept of ‘connection’ stem from September 11, 2001, and he continues to work in fields straddling art, architecture, and so on. He designs and creates simple geometric crests and patterns that can be drawn with a ruler and compass, and three-dimensional forms using the same principles. His major works include the lower facade glass pattern for the Dai Nagoya Building and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games emblems. He is lecturer at the University of Tokyo Faculty of Engineering.

Born in Kyoto, 1983. Kenichi Studied under Asao Tokolo since 2004 and graduated from Waseda University Art and Architecture School in 2007. He mainly creates three-dimensional works and photographs using patterns composed of simple geometry and characteristics of materials. Major artworks and exhibitions include, “Flowing time reflecting on the river” RAYARD MIYASHITA PARK (2020), “Collecting view in the well,” 28th UBE Biennale (2019), “GLOWING GROWING GROUND,” Osaka International Airport (2018).
TIERS GALLERY is located in the headquarters building “TIERS” of Arakawa & Co., Ltd. designed by architect Hikalu Tanabe. TIERS includes a grand staircase leading from the exterior city street to inside the foyer, a terrace on the middle floor, and eventually, the top floor, with a façade of interlinking wire cable patterns designed by Tokolo Asao, gradually creating a continuous space with the city. is open to all kinds of creators, whether it is architecture, interior design, graphic design, or product design.
