I am handcrafting a series of tableware from food waste and Urushi to encourage us to rethink our relationship with nature (photo). This time, a bigger piece, Anima – Life Vessel, is to be unveiled, interpreting a pot as a symbol of life: since ancient times, pots have been containers preserving and carrying water and food, placing offerings or ashes and displaying flowers.

Artist
Japanese designer based in Tokyo. Born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1988. MA from the Design Products of Royal College of Art in 2013. He has exhibited internationally including at Kunstgewerbemuseum, the MAK Wien, La Triennale di Milano, Christie’s London and the V&A. Lexus Design Award 2016 Grand Prix winner. Shortlisted for the Emerging Designer of the Year of Dezeen Awards 2018, and for the Sustainable Design category of its 2019 edition. His work is in the V&A permanent collection.

The venue, TENOHA DAIKANYAMA, is a complex facility with a lifestyle store, restaurant, etc. to be closed in October 2019. With this event, we will send our message overseas with TENOHA Milano in Italy opened in April 2018.
