HERNO / ASAKO NARAHASHI at HERNO

area: 表参道/Omotesando

information

Luxury outerwear brand HERNO was founded in 1948 in Lesa on the shores of Lake Maggiore near the river Erno in Northern Italy. This year HERNO celebrates its 70th anniversary and the 50th year of its presence in Japan. To commemorate this milestone, in time with DESIGNART 2018, photography works taken by photographer Asako Narahashi exclusively for the brand’s anniversary book will be exhibited. HERNO has grown into a brand widely recognized around the world thanks to its history of constant evolution. In its long history from its birth to the present day, “water” has always symbolized the brand. Claudio Marenzi proposed the idea of doing a photo session to take pictures of Lake Maggiore and the river Erno by a Japanese artist in order to celebrate the bond between HERNO and Japan as well as the Okuda family who has led the HERNO business in Japan. From numerous excellent photographers, Asako Narahashi was selected. The photographer spoke of her impression when she visited Lake Maggiore for the first time. “In autumn, snowy mountains can be seen together with beautifully colored leaves. People live in the midst of nature. I really like this intricate, deep, and humanly place which shows a variety of expressions.” Its waterfront scenery continues to inspire HERNO. The photographer’s unique point of view, capturing land from the water’s surface, invites you to the place where HERNO was born. This exhibition is a special event where you can feel the tie between HERNO and Japan over 50 years first hand. At the boutique, the anniversary book will be on sale, and her exhibited works can be ordered during the exhibition period.
